#15 Flow charts

Flowcharts could be very useful, especially in explaining procedures and processes to new staff. I don't know about mind maps though. I'm sure they would be useful to people who do a lot of planning etc.

#14 Letterpop

This newlettery thing looks great. Could be very useful for library promotions of all sorts. I produced the beginnings of a newsletter, not quite completed, but the potential is there!

# 13 E-Books and Audiobooks

Had a good look and it looks really useful, but it can never replace the real thing (I hope!)

#12 YouTube

I could really get hooked on this if I had the time to play. Can't really see a use for it in our Library.

#11 Podcasts

Come on!! They're great, and I'm sure my kids have time to set these up and listen, but workwise I really can't see the value.

#10 Rollyo

I tried and tried but had no luck with Rollyo, This one really stumped me!

#9 Wikis

This looks like it could be very useful in a Library setting, and I was most impressed by the examples that we looked at in our discovery exercise.

#8 Social bookmarking

Very useful if you're working at different locations and different computers, or taking your work home (God forbid!).

#7 iGoogle

This was fun, but there was so much to play with I had trouble deciding on the final look! I think I'll change it regularly so I don't get bored with the look. I did have trouble with the facebook gadget, but maybe I'll play again later.

Week # 6

Had a look at Google tools, there's so much possibility there my head spins. Google maps was familiar, I used it on my recent trip up North to organise accommodation (very useful).

#5 -Myspace and Facebook

I can see uses for Myspace for public libraries but not for a Government department Library. Facebook is great for keeping in touch personally, but again not much use for it workwise.

#4 - RSS feeds

I'm sure everbody has already discovered that RSS feeds can be a very useful tool for the Library field. I will attempt to use it to discover when new publications are added to our departments website, which should make my job a little easier (if it works!)

Week 3

I am getting SO far behind. It's so difficult to find the time to concentrate on the weekly tasks. I've saved an image! I can't see much use for this in the Library, but Library Thing could be used when sending out "New Books" lists.

Big Learning Curve

Well, I've done it. I've finally managed to register my blog. Need a strong cup of tea to soothe the nerves after that effort! Hopefully it's all uphill after this.
